Me and my approach

I am English, have lived in Norway since 1979, speak fluent Norwegian, have two adult children, a bachelor's degree in Developmental Psychology and am a qualified Gestalt therapist from the Norwegian Gestalt Institute in Oslo (NGI). The 4-year qualification meets the requirements for the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP). I am a member of the Norwegian Gestalttherapists' Association (Norsk Gestaltterapeut Forening) and have been practising as a psychotherapist in Sandvika since 2010.

Of other qualifications I can mention that I have over 30 years experience as an HR adviser in Bærum, and about 60 years experience of life!

As a gestalt therapist, I am humble, honest and eager to see what we can accomplish together in therapy. It is important to me that you should feel respected and safe in meeting with me in therapy.

A personal mission statement

I believe that all people have the opportunity to choose - and choose again – throughout life.  I also believe that there is something beautiful and vulnerable in people, which often makes us hold back from our possibilities and choices. "To dare is to lose your footing for a short while; not to dare is to lose your self." (Kierkegaard, own translation).  I know a lot about daring, and I know a lot about holding back and not daring. As a therapist, I have chosen to dare to engage in a discovery process with clients where we explore together what and how things are. My intention is to support the client in clarifying these things and increase awareness, but I cannot discover for the client. The client is the only one who can make and experience his/her own discoveries. It is my intention to support clients in the discovery of their potential and support them in daring to live life to the full, take responsibility and make aware choices. This gives me meaning in life. My life.  A life I have chosen.
